Seven Corner Table

Seoul, 2018
Wooden table tops, stools, acrylic paint

The modular table setting is based on an adaptable, seven-cornered shape and takes inspiration from small-world experiments. The experiments suggest that through a chain of friend-of-a-friend connections, any two people in the world are associable through a maximum of seven people. Participants become an integral part of the table, balancing its modular tops on their laps. As part of the collective (inter)action, participants share food and time, conversing while literally finding balance. Their bodies become instru- ments, their hands become tools and their eyes and stomachs ingest and digest colours.
