Loop Table

2017, Berlin

Participatory performance

Mobile tables, crisp bread, colorful spreads

This interactive collaboration between the kitchen at Studio Olafur Eliasson, Raul Walch, and Syrian architecture collective Xero invites the audience to create a modular table. Together the modules form an infinity symbol, and an extensive pattern covers the table’s surface.

Participants become an integral part of the table, balancing its modular tops on their laps. As part of the collective (inter)action, participants share bread and spend time, beginning a conversation while literally finding balance. Each module is designed to be activated by more than two people, their bodies turning into instruments of rhythm and balance, their hands into tools, breaking crisp bread into oblique geometries, their eyes and stomachs ingesting and digesting colors. Each ‘you’ is part of the setting.
